One of my favorite geeky sites – Mashable – has a series of videos that shows thrifty cosplayers how to become their favorite characters and stay within a budget. A recent entry has them taking on our favorite messy-haired misfit!
Admittedly, I am one of the very few who has not got swept up by the Dancing With the Stars phenomenon. However, when actress Alexa Penavega and her partner Mark Ballas put on a Scissorhands-inspired performance last season – I had to check it out!
Alexa Penavega is best known for her roles in the Spy Kids franchise and the Machete sequel. Although she wasn’t crowned the champion of Dancing With the Stars – dancing as Kim Boggs makes her a winner in my book. Check out the video for yourself!
Action figure company Kotobukiya is teasing a new Edward Scissorhands themed action figure they will be releasing soon.
It will be a female version of Edward, in the same vein as their Jason Vorhees and Freddy Kruger gender swaps seen below.
Kotobukyia does great, detailed work so I can’t wait to see the treatmen Lady Scissorhands gets! Of course, I’ll post it on ESNet as soon as its released.
Well file this one under something I never thought I’d see (unless I made it myself)! Coinciding with the film’s 25th anniversary last month, Price Stern Sloan published Edward Scissorhands Mad Libs, a simple but fun workbook with 20 mad libs. All you have to do is supply the adjectives, nouns, verbs, and silly words.
Personally I feel the novelty of Mad Libs wears off pretty quickly, but I would never deprive anyone of anything Edward-inspired!
Try your (scissor)hand at one of the MadLibs found in the book below!

The iconic sitcom Seinfeld gave it’s unique take on just about everything pop culture during it’s nine season run from 1989-1998. So, of course in the season 5 episode “The Barber”, Edward Scissorhands was given the Larry David-Jerry Seinfeld treatment. Two colorful barbers, Enzo and Gino, discuss the pros and cons of having razor sharp blades for hands. While one feels that “it’s a beautiful thing”, the other wonders how someone in that condition handles it when nature comes calling. A question that is often pondered by the Edward Scissorhands audience. At the episodes conclusion, Jerry and Gino are seen watching the film and debating the bathroom issue.

Since the 25th anniversary last week, several news outlets have been regurgitating the same information about the movie over and over again. So when I woke up today to a Google Alert containing the following article, I was very pleased.
DazedDigitial.com teamed up with the, well, geniuses at Genius to do an in-depth interview with screenwriter Caroline Thompson, art director Tom Duffield, casting director Victoria Thomas, and costumer designer Colleen Atwood.
What follows is a well-written and very informative piece worthy of the Tim Burton masterpiece itself. Do yourself a favor – and check it out!
Due to the 25th anniversary of the film, several media site have been publishing lists of little known fact about the movie. Head to the bottom of this post for some external links I’ve assembled. Be warned though – a few these are those annoying slideshow “news” posts with tons of clickbait ads. The best of these that have seen is from the website Decider. They do a top 10 little known facts for a lot of movies – here’s a repost of their Edward edition:
